Head Mold Designs
The first Cabbage Patch Kids released to the public through Coleco in 1983-1984 featured head mold designs #1-4.
In 1985 Cabbie doll faces #5-9 were released. Face designs #10-16 were first available in 1986 and #17-18 head molds were launched in 1987. In 1988 molds #19-23 and #30 debuted.
During the 1989 transition year from Coleco to Hasbro, Cabbage Patch doll head molds #36, and #44-45 were launched. There were no head molds #7, 13, 24-29, 31-35, 37-43 dolls in production.

#1 Head Mold – Small Face / Shy Face
The original Cabbage Patch Kids head mold, first released in 1983-1984, showcased a face with eyes close together, a small smile, round nose, and no dimples. Some had freckles in later year editions and foreign factory dolls.
#2 Head Mold – Brat Face
The most common Cabbage Patch doll face when first released in 1983, featuring large eyes, a long nose, and dimples on both cheeks. Freckles were common on this head mold.
#3 Head Mold – Happy Face
The most common head mold found across all dolls. This face features wider spread eyes, a short nose, and single dimple on left cheek, with a bright happy expression.
#4 Head Mold – Paci Face
The first head mold designed with an open mouth to hold a pacifier. This mold has large close set eyes, a short wide nose, and dimples on both cheeks.
#5 Head Mold – Single Tooth Face
First seen in 1985, this head design shows a face with wide set eyes, a tiny nose, dimples on both cheeks, and a one top front tooth.
#6 Head Mold – Chubby Paci Face
The 2nd pacifier head mold design with an open mouth is wider and rounder than mold #4, and features a single dimple on the left cheek only.
There is no #7 head mold.
#8 Head Mold – Glasses Face
This face has a turned up nose designed to hold eye glasses. The eyes on this doll’s head mold are large and wide set with a single dimple on left cheek.
#9 Head Mold – Chimp Face
This sweet face features the eyes close together, a small nose, a sucked in smile with a predominant upper lip, and dimples on both cheeks.
#10 Head Mold – Bottom Teeth Face
Available after 1985, this face features wide set eyes, a long nose similar to #2, dimples on both cheeks, and a slightly open mouth design showcasing two bottom front teeth.
#11 Head Mold – Pink Tongue Face
The first tongue face designed head mold. The pink tongue licks up and to the left. The face has a long nose, and dimples on both cheeks. Similar to #2 and #10 faces. Common in 1986 kids.
#12 Head Mold – Sucked-In Smile Face
This face appeared after 1986 and features a long nose, wide set eyes, dimples on both cheeks, and a sucked in smile similar to head mold #9.
There is no Cabbage Page Kids head mold #13.
#14 Head Mold – Chubby Face
This head mold face is very chubby, featuring puffy cheeks, close set eyes, a wide nose, double chin, and dimple on right cheek.
#15 Head Mold – Large Face
This Cabbage Patch Kids head mold has a large face, featuring wide set eyes, a chubby nose, a wide smile, and an indentation (long dimple) on the right cheek.
#16 Head Mold – Pouty Face
The face on this mold features wide set eyes, a long nose, prominent chin with dimple, and appears to be pouting. Similar to #12 and #2. Not a common mold.
#17 Head Mold – Chubby Teeth Face
This face debuted in 1987 and has wide set eyes, a wide down turned nose, chubby cheeks with a dimple on the right cheek, and an open mouth with two bottom front teeth. Common on Hasbro dolls.
#18 Head Mold – Tongue Face
The 2nd tongue face mold for Cabbage Patch Kids features close set eyes, a chubby nose, an open mouth with a tongue sticking out, and a dimple on the right cheek.
#19 Head Mold – Melvin Face
This Cabbie face mold features close set eyes, a big wide nose, and an open mouth featuring gapped top teeth as well as a few bottom teeth.
#20 Head Mold – Pudgy Face
This face design features small eyes, a tiny nose, a small smile, and big pudgy cheeks. The head mold is commonly seen on “Toddler” kids.
#21 Head Mold – Smirking Face
The sweet head design features evenly spaced eyes, a big wide nose, an open mouth showing a partial tongue, and a dimple on the right cheek. Commonly seen on “Bean Butt Babies.”
#22 Head Mold – Single Bottom Tooth Face
This doll face design has large wide set eyes, a long nose, and an open mouth smile showcasing a single bottom tooth. Some models had freckles. The mold is only seen in 1988 on the “Growing Hair” Kids.
#23 Head Mold – Crooked Smile Face
This Cabbage Patch doll face features large wide set eyes, wide nose, and crooked smile with open mouth showing a pink tongue. Some models had freckles. The mold is only seen on the “Growing Hair” Kids.
There are no head molds #24-29.
#30 Head Mold – Small Crooked Smile Face
This doll face design features a rounder face, closer set eyes, small nose, and a small crooked smile with open mouth showing a pink tongue that goes up on the right. Similar to face mold #23.
There are no head molds #31-35.
COLECO & HASBRO Dolls Head Molds
#36 Head Mold – Asian Face
This head mold is the first Asian face design featuring wide set, large almond shaped eyes, with a wide nose, small smile, and chubby cheeks. Commonly found on the Designer Line Kids.
There are no head molds #37-43.
#44 Head Mold – Chin Dimple Face
This doll face design had large, wide set eyes, a small nose, smiling happy expression, with round chubby cheeks, and a dimple on the chin.
#45 Head Mold – Small Dimple Face
This Cabbage Patch Kids head mold features large, wide set eyes, a small notes, and happy small smile, chubby cheeks, and a single dimple on the right cheek very close to the mouth. Similar to head mold #44.
