Imitation Cabbage Patch Kids
With the high demand and high price of the original Cabbage Patch Kids, many toy manufacturers produced imitation dolls at a much lower price point.
The inspiration for Xavier Roberts’ “The Little People” dolls came from Martha Thomas Nelson’s “Little Doll Babies.” When Roberts partenered with Coleco to mass-produce the vinyl head Cabbage Patch Dolls, Nelson also created a vinyl head line of her dolls. Some popular CPK knock-off dolls included: Flower Kids, The Pumpkins, and Cauliflower Babies, among others.
